"Web Services as a Business Enabler"

As Internet technologies matured, emphasis shifted from on Business-to-Consumers (B2C) applications to two other types of applications: Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Employee (B2E). In B2E, the objective is to streamlines internal operations by integrating systems to each other and removing or reducing duplication in data and systems. In B2B, the focus is on the collaboration among business partners within the supply chain. This transition in emphasis from a pure B2C to B2E and B2B needed a new paradigm to achieve the objectives which is represented by Web Services.

In this presentation, Qusai Sarraf, CEO IVIS Group, will cover the definition, application and opportunities to grow the business using Web Services based on many years experience with some of the world leaders in retail including Tesco.com. Qusai is an entrepreneur passionate about identifying and growing e-business opportunities. His background combines e-business strategic consulting, early e-commerce architecture development and designing business-focused solutions spanning 20 years in IT. Qusai was one of the seven members of the team that built Tesco.com in 1996 and he continues his role in steering the strategic direction of a number of high profile projects including IVIS Group’s Product Information Management (PIM) solution Sonetto. Qusai has a degree in Electronic Engineer from Brighton University in England and has moved early in his career to the software industry where he worked for various software houses before setting up his company in 1994.

Qusai is an international public speaker, author and trainer specialist in using web standards and technologies to resolve business problems. He is the author of the best selling Learning Tree International course Building XML Applications which is taught around the world and has been translated into a number of foreign languages including French and Japanese. Qusai built IVIS Group from nothing in 1994 and organically grew the business based on a professional services model. In 2000 he started a product development venture to further expand the business which has culminated in developing a world-leading product Sonetto which is a strategic Product Information Management (PIM). Today, IVIS Group is 40 person strong with a company turnover of £3m and is privately owned.
