"Through The Eye of a Sponsor"

Event Report

Derek Usher, Head of Operations for HBOS Card Services, gave a thoroughly engaging talk on business sponsorship to a packed audience at the Hawthorns Hotel in Bristol on 10th February. The talk entitled "Through the Eye of a Sponsor" was his view of why things turn out as they do, what he expects of himself and the people who work for him, and a few thoughts about "is it worth putting yourself through what it takes?". Derek"s talk was primarily based around his experiences as a sponsor during the Halifax and Bank of Scotland merger. Derek used only a handful of slides and complimented his main points with interesting anecdotes and statistics. As a business sponsor, his level of involvement was always very high - averaging 15-20% of his time and peaking at 100+% during key change periods. Feedback on the talk was very positive. A couple of people said that is was very refreshing to have a talk from a business perspective.

The slides (83k) from this presentation are now available
