Meet the PROMS-G Committee
David Reynolds is an independent IT Management Consultant.
He has an MBA and over 30 years in IS/IT and business change in
a wide range of market sectors (including FMCG, Defence, Clothing,
IT Services, Retail, Rail, Local Government) and IS functions
- including setting up and managing project management departments.
His company, KatAlyst Limited, www.katalyst.ltd.uk,
provides IS and business consultancy and resources. He and his consultancy team have a
strong interest in the people issues of managing change.
David also project manages squash tournaments with client staff - when they let him!.
As the chair of PROMS-G, David ensures that members are provided with
relevant information on current issues and PM techniques, as well as
providing a forum for sharing best practice, lessons learned, etc., in
order to enhance the professional status of Project Management within
the IT and related industries.
Bruce has worked in the IT Services field for over 20 years
in a variety of roles including system programmer, network
operations analyst and network supervisor. He is now working
as a senior analyst and trainer for an International Law firm
in London. He is a qualified Prince2 practitioner and has written
articles and a white paper on project management themes.
As the secretary of PROMS-G, Bruce ensures that minutes of meetings are taken and actions followed up.
Terry project manages the contract to develop and maintain the National Digital
Archive of Datasets at The National Archives. Terry has experience in managing projects and
business analysis in both public and private sectors working in continental Europe,
the USA and the UK. Terry is very active in many BCS specialist groups
serving on the BCS SGEC as well as on BCS Council. Terry joined
the PROMS-G committee as Programme Manager until 2006 to contribute to the development of programmes of events beneficial
to our members and their guests.
As Treasurer, he is responsible for keeping financial records of the group's
activities, monitoring spend and preparing the annual budgets.
John has been working in and associated with the Computing/IT/Technology industries for nearly 40 years, with over 20
years experience as independent consultant/adviser and Interim Manager. He has also been running multiple concurrent
projects for 15 years and has recently been employed as a public servant as Programme Manager for the Police Information
Technology Organisation for four years including a period on loan to the Home Office to help with the IMPACT Programme,
that is creating national policing intelligence systems and securing the future of the Police National Computer.
In 2006, John ‘retired’ from the public sector and has resumed his career as an independent consultant/adviser and Interim Manager.
He is currently working as Interim Portfolio Standards Manager for VOSA (the Vehicle and Operator Standards Agency of the Department for Transport).
John has been a member of the BCS since 1977 and has attended PROMS-G events for many years and was eventually persuaded to
join the committee, then became Publicity Officer and has until last year been the Hon. Treasurer. His Membership Secretary
role includes monitoring the membership and subscription lists, dealing with returned copies of PMT and
circulating event details by email to the membership. He has also been responsible for the migration of
all our systems onto the BCS HQ systems.
John has recently successfully completed a move from Berkshire to Gloucestershire and then moved from rented
accommodation to their latest home near Stroud. In his spare time he is working on house improvements to prepare
the house for retirement, when it comes.
Mike has worked for Fujitsu Services (formally known as ICL) for 35 years as a Software Engineering
Project Manager and Designer, with varied Sales Division and Development Division roles and experience.
These roles have included collaboration and technical guidance to customers and user groups, as well as
contributions to bid proposals and risk assessment/management. He currently works in the Central Government
Business Unit of Fujitsu. He is a BCS Member with Eur Ing, CEng and CITP certifications.
Having recently become a member of PROMS-G and the new Publicity Officer (taking over from David Reynolds)
he is keen to contribute to the Group and promote its aims.
As Publicity Officer for PROMS-G, Mike is responsible
for ensuring that relevant information about the Group and its events,
activities and people is communicated to all potentially interested
individuals and organisations. This is mainly via our regular
column in the magazine 'Project Manager Today', and
relevant channels in the computing press and the BCS Diary.
Don Southey started in both I.T. and projects work in the early 80's at
Rank Xerox, winning several 'Top Team' citations and presenting two
innovative projects to international audiences. In the 90's he worked
contracts for a variety of firms including BNFL, finally joining
Computacenter plc as a Project Manager in 1998. He is a Chartered Engineer
with the IEE, a registered PRINCE-2 practitioner and an occassional international
mime artist.
As South West Sub-group Chairman for PROMS-G, it is Don’s responsibility to ensure that the
sub-group services the interests of members who live in the South West area.
As North Sub-group Chairman for PROMS-G, it is Ian’s responsibility to ensure that the
sub-group services the interests of members who live in the North area.
It is David’s responsibility to ensure that the group services the interests of members who live in the West Yorkshire area.
He also promotes PROMS-G activities with the branches of BCS.
Anthony is a consultant with Thales and has
nearly 25 years' experience in a variety of roles from software developer,
team leader, software manager, technical manager, business consultant and architect in various
large programmes, primarily in the Utilities and Defence sectors. He is a BCS Member with CEng and CITP certifications.
As webmaster for PROMS-G since the end of 2003, Anthony ensures that information relating
to all of the PROMS-G activities are provided in a consistent manner (and
conforms to the evolving BCS web standards!). He also defines the strategy for the use of IT by PROMS-G.
General Member - Brendan D'Cruz

Brendan D'Cruz is currently Principal Lecturer & Field Leader: Finance, Economics and Accounting
at the Business School, University of East London. He is a Prince 2 Practioner, and was Chair of the
Northampton Branch of the BCS from 2004 to 2007. He lectures in the areas of project management,
strategic information systems management, business information systems, international business
and e-business. He formerly worked at the University of Northampton in the role of Programmes
Leader and Field Chair for Information Sciences, and at the University of Plymouth where he did
his BSc in Computing and Informatics, and his PhD in Reinforcement Learning for Intelligent
Control. He has also spent time in Ukraine at the Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics
which involved teaching Business Information Systems and Business Communication Skills.
